Deputy Attorney General, Criminal Law Division, Special Prosecutions Unit (ICAC)

Primary Duties: The successful applicant will work in eastern Idaho as a prosecutor for the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. This position will prosecute crimes involving child sexual exploitation in the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh judicial districts with a majority caseload in eastern Idaho. Office location is flexible in eastern Idaho and will depend on where the successful applicant lives or plans to live.
The person who fills this position will be the only prosecutor located in eastern Idaho who works for the Attorney General and may occasionally be asked to stand in for hearings in other cases prosecuted by the office in eastern and south-central Idaho. The successful applicant must be independent, self-motivated, and able to work with little or no supervision.
Primary duties include handling all aspects of criminal prosecution, from search warrant review and screening through trial and sentencing; working closely with investigators throughout the state; and appearing in courtrooms throughout eastern and south-central Idaho.
The Office of the Attorney General prioritizes the mental health and wellbeing of all ICAC personnel. Each ICAC prosecutor is required to meet with a mental health professional annually.
Minimum Qualifications: Must hold an active Idaho Bar license and have first-chair jury trial experience. Must have the ability to frequently travel throughout eastern and south-central Idaho and occasionally travel statewide. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be comfortable managing cases with media attention and demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for public service.
Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of prosecution experience in district court, including experience prosecuting ICAC cases. Familiarity with Fourth Amendment jurisprudence on the search and seizure of electronic devices and data stored in the cloud.

Primary Duties: The Natural Resources Division of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office is seeking applications for an attorney to provide representation and counsel to the State of Idaho and its natural resource agencies including the Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, the State in special litigation proceedings, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and other boards, commissions or agencies, as assigned. Practice areas can include oil and gas regulation and enforcement; Idaho Public Records Law and Open Meeting Law; FERC proceedings; Endangered Species Act and NEPA litigation; adjudication of state, federal and tribal water rights; natural resource uses on public lands; civil litigation arising from contracts, torts, state and federal laws, etc.; and advising and representing natural resource agencies on contracting, rulemaking, and other administrative matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Admission to the Idaho State Bar and U.S. District of Idaho.
- Three years of relevant legal and technical work experience or coursework.
- Experience in civil litigation procedure and practice, including pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial, post-trial motions, appeals.
- Knowledge of state contract terms, contract review and application, and drafting.
- Exceptional public speaking, computer, writing, editing, telephone, and client management skills are required.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Strong computer skills and effective use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five or more years of litigation experience.
- Experience in contract and real property law.
- Mediation and negotiation skills.
- Interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and policies.
- Researching and preparing reports and recommendations.

Primary Duties: The successful applicant will serve as 1 of 4 Deputy Attorneys General assigned as in-house counsel to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. Duties include representing PUC staff in utility rate cases and other litigated administrative proceedings, preparing pleadings, discovery, and settlement documents, and otherwise coordinating the presentation of PUC staff’s case. Deputies also prepare post-hearing decision memoranda, opinions, orders, and notices for the PUC. Other duties may include reviewing and drafting contracts, rules, policies; advising on employment matters, public records law, and open meeting law issues; and advising on other legal issues arising at the PUC.
Minimum Qualifications: Active Idaho State Bar license. Strong writing and editing skills. Ability to work independently and to work well with others (including with engineers, accountants, utility analysts, economists, and opposing counsel). Knowledge of utility regulation can be acquired on-the-job.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with government practice, administrative law, appellate court practices, economics, finance, accounting, and antitrust are beneficial.
