Robert Fort Sentenced for Misuse of Public Funds
(Boise) - Former Twin Falls County Clerk Robert Fort was sentenced to a maximum of three years in the Idaho State Correctional Institution for misuse of public funds, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Fifth District Judge Monte Carlson sentenced Fort to a one year fixed and 2 year indeterminate prison term.
Fort, 65, of Filer, pleaded guilty on August 13, 2003, to a felony charge of misuse of public funds a violation of Idaho Code § 18-5701. Fort resigned as the Twin Falls County Clerk in June after being accused of spending more than $64,000 in county taxpayer funds. Fort repaid the county $55,642 on October 27, 2003.
The Special Prosecutions Unit of the Attorney General's Criminal Law Division prosecuted the case at the request of Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney Grant Loebs. Deputy Attorney General Scott James prosecuted the case.
