Patricia Merrick Sentenced for Aiding in Grand Theft and Burglary
(Boise) - Patricia Ann Merrick was sentenced yesterday to a two (2) to five (5) year prison sentence, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Merrick was sentenced by Fourth District Judge Darla Williamson for aiding in a burglary and aiding in a grand theft. Merrick was also ordered to reimburse the public defender $250.
Judge Williamson retained jurisdiction for 180 days and gave Merrick credit for 51 days for time already served.
Merrick, 35, of Nampa, pleaded guilty on February 19, 2004 to one count of aiding in grand theft and one count of aiding in a burglary. Merrick acted as a look-out for Kelly Earl Smith, 26, as he entered a closed horse trailer on South School Road in Kuna and stole a saddle valued in excess of $1,000. Smith pleaded guilty in Elmore County to one count of grand theft and one count of burglary on March 25, 2004.
The Special Prosecutions Unit of the Attorney General's Criminal Law Division prosecuted the case at the request of Ada County Prosecuting Attorney Greg Bower.
