Cassie Jones Sentenced For Witness Intimidation
(Boise) - Cassie M. Jones, 19, of Pocatello was sentenced in Twin Falls Tuesday for two counts of witness intimidation, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Fifth District Judge G. Richard Bevan sentenced Jones to two to ten years in prison and fined her $1,000. The court retained jurisdiction for 180 days.
The charges arose from an incident in Fifth District Court in Twin Falls on June 2, 2003. Following sentencing of her husband on other charges, Jones struck and shouted at two witnesses in that case. Jones was taken into custody and later indicted by a Twin Falls County grand jury. Following a trial in April of 2004, a jury convicted her of two counts of witness intimidation.
The Special Prosecutions Unit of the Attorney General's Criminal Law Division handled the case at the request of Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney Grant Loebs. Deputy Attorneys General Ken Robins and Ken Stringfield prosecuted the case.
