(Boise) – An Idaho County jury found Kooskia City Council Member James A. Cochran, 43, guilty of sexual abuse of a minor last week, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Cochran will be sentenced on August 10, 2007, by Second District Judge Jeff Brudie.
Cochran faces up to a 25-year prison sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender.
A Kooskia resident, Cochran was arrested on April 24, 2006, and was charged and later acquitted of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16.
The case was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit at the request of Idaho County Prosecuting Attorney Kirk MacGregor. Deputy Attorney General Justin Whatcott prosecuted the case.
