Former Homedale City Clerk Pleads Guilty to Petit Theft
(Boise) – Former Homedale City Clerk Pamela K. Dugger pleaded guilty today and was sentenced on one count of petit theft, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Third District Judge Gordon W. Petrie sentenced Dugger to 30 days in jail and 6 months probation and to pay $1,500 in restitution. The court suspended the jail sentence.
Dugger’s plea was made pursuant to the 1970 U.S. Supreme Court case of North Carolina v. Alford, which allows a defendant to plead guilty as part of a plea agreement while not admitting the acts. Courts treat an Alford plea the same as any other guilty plea.
The Special Prosecutions Unit of the Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case at the request of the Owyhee and Canyon County Prosecuting Attorneys offices. Deputy Attorney General John McKinney prosecuted the case.
