Former Sheriff Jim Dorion Pleads Guilty to Accessory Charge
(Boise) – Former Nez Perce County Sheriff Jimmy Ray Dorion pleaded guilty today to one felony count of accessory to a crime, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Second District Judge John Stegner ordered a presentence investigation report and scheduled the sentencing hearing for August 10, 2009.
By pleading guilty, Dorion admitted that, while serving as the Nez Perce County Sheriff, he willfully concealed knowledge of a burglary at Lewiston High School from the Lewiston Police Department. On February 27, 2009, the Attorney General’s Office charged Dorion with three counts of accessory to a crime. Dorion had previously left the state. He was arrested in Louisiana and waived extradition to Idaho.
The Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit is prosecuting the case at the request of Nez Perce County Prosecutor Daniel Spickler. Deputy Attorney General Chris Topmiller prosecuted the case.
