Angela Mullaney Sentenced for Insurance Fraud
(Boise) – Angela T. Mullaney was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for one felony count of insurance fraud. Fourth District Judge Richard Greenwood also ordered Mullaney to pay $10,000 in restitution to the victim. The court suspended the prison sentenced and retained jurisdiction for six months.
Mullaney, 40, a resident of Emmett, entered a plea of guilty to one count of insurance fraud on February 23, 2010. By pleading guilty, Mullaney admitted that she lied to her insurance company when she claimed that she was driving her 2006 Lincoln Navigator when it was wrecked, when, in fact, it was driven by another individual. She further admitted that in order to ensure that the vehicle would be totaled, she and several friends pushed the Navigator over on its roof.
The case was investigated by the Idaho Department of Insurance and prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Rondee Blessing of the Attorney General’s Insurance Crimes Unit.
