Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Staff to Visit Cambridge

(Boise) – Consumer specialists from Attorney General Lawrence Wasden’s office will be in Cambridge to talk about current scams and strategies for avoiding fraud. Wasden encourages the public to attend the session at the Cambridge/Midvale Senior Center at their luncheon at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 10th.

Please RSVP to 208-257-3358 by Tuesday, November 9th if you plan to eat lunch at the center. The cost of the meal is $5.00 for those 60 and over and $7.00 for those under 60 years of age. The center is located at 40 Superior St. in Cambridge.

“We continue to receive reports of fraud ranging from debt management and mortgage modification scams to over-promising job-finding services and attempts to use e-mail or text messages to obtain consumers’ bank account numbers,” Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. “The consumer specialists will have information that will help people avoid these and other scams. It is much easier to avoid these scams than it is to get your money back.”

The Attorney General’s pamphlet, Foreclosure Prevention and Foreclosure Scams: How to Tell the Difference, and the recently updated ProtecTeens Internet safety DVD, along with a variety of other consumer pamphlets, will be available at no cost to those in attendance. Consumer specialists will also answer questions and discuss how to file a consumer complaint.

The Attorney General’s consumer education program is paid for with money collected from consumer protection enforcement. No tax money is used to pay for consumer education.
