Former Hospital Foundation Director Pleads Guilty
(Boise) – The former Executive Director of the Syringa General Hospital Foundation in Grangeville pleaded guilty today to two felonies involving theft of money from the foundation. Laurie A. Rockwell, 49, of Grangeville, entered a plea of guilty to one count of grand theft and one count of computer crime. Second District Judge Jeff M. Brudie accepted Rockwell’s guilty plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
On March 30, the Attorney General filed a criminal complaint charging Rockwell with five counts of grand theft and five counts of computer crime. The complaint alleged that, between January 2008 and January 2011, Rockwell took money from five separate bank accounts of the Syringa General Hospital Foundation.
Pursuant to a plea agreement, Rockwell will pay restitution to the foundation in an amount to be determined by the court. The state will dismiss the remaining counts. Rockwell is scheduled to be sentenced for the two felonies on September 21, 2012.
The Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit handled the case at the request of Idaho County Prosecuting Attorney Kirk MacGregor.
