Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced that Theodore Scott Morin, 30, was sentenced to ten years in prison for the sexual exploitation of a child.  Morin was sentenced on June 11, 2024, by District Judge Darren B. Simpson.

In August 2023 through September 2023, while undercover detectives in the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (“ICAC”) Unit were monitoring peer-to-peer networks, they learned that Morin was downloading child sexual abuse material.  After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched Morin’s home, phone, and computer and located dozens of images – including videos – of child sexual abuse material.  These files depicted prepubescent girls and boys being raped and abused by adult men.

“No prison sentence could ever restore the childhood innocence stolen from these young victims,” said Attorney General Labrador, “but we will always fight to put predators and abusers behind bars where they can’t harm another child.  I’m very proud of the hard work done by our ICAC investigators and prosecutors.  When it comes to protecting our kids, these dedicated professionals deserve the thanks of our entire community.”

Morin pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Deputy Attorney General Ken Robins recommended that Morin receive a ten-year prison sentence with three (3) years fixed and seven (7) years indeterminate. Judge Simpson agreed with the State’s recommendation and ordered Morin to serve three (3) years fixed and seven (7) years indeterminate. Morin was also ordered to pay court fees. Additionally, Morin will now have to register as a sex offender pursuant to Idaho law.

This case was investigated by the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit.
