Personal Information
Except for what you submit to us, we do not collect any personally identifiable information. The information you provide may be used by the Idaho Office of Attorney General to respond to your inquiry.
Consumer Protection Complaints
The Consumer Protection Division of the Office of Attorney General may use the information you provide to investigate a consumer complaint. We may consider investigating complaints involving an ongoing pattern or practice of illegal activity. We rely in great part upon consumers who are willing to provide us with information about fraudulent and deceptive activities in tracking illegal business practices. Information provided by consumers is indispensable to our efforts. Unless you specifically request otherwise, we will attempt to mediate your dispute by forwarding your complaint to the business or person involved and request a response. Your complaint is a public document and may be inspected by members of the public and media if a request is made under Idaho’s Public Records Law. (Note: The Office of Attorney General is generally not authorized to investigate criminal complaints unless asked to investigate by a county prosecuting attorney or local law enforcement agencies. If you need to report a criminal violation of Idaho law, please contact your local police or sheriff’s department.)
We do not collect any personally identifiable information, except as needed to respond to your requests or to file a complaint.
If you choose to provide us with personal information — like filling out a Contact Us form, with an email address and ZIP code, and submitting it to us through the website — we use that information to respond to your message and to help get you the information you requested. Similarly, if you order a publication from us, we will collect your name, and mailing address to fulfill your order.
We only share the information you give us with another government agency if your question relates to that agency, or as otherwise required by law. Our office does not collect information for commercial marketing.
